When researching individuals from the UK you may come across information that someone has died, so it may be useful to use the England & Wales Wills & Probate Service or the Scottish Wills & Probate Service to obtain a copy of their Probate Notice, to see how much their total estate was worth and a copy of their Will, to see who they left money & assets to, as this may help you understand the family set-up, links & connections to individuals and even possibly help account for the unexplained wealth of a recipient etc.

A Probate Notice lists details such as;

     Name & Address Of The Deceased Person
     Date Of Their Death
     Executors Of Their Will
     Total Value Of Their Estate Before & After Tax
     Details Of The Solicitor Who Handled The Probate & Will

A Will can include details such as;

     Name & Address Of The Deceased Person
     Executors Of Their Will
     Details Of Any Assets, Money & Gifts Left To Named People Or Organisations
     Details Of The Solicitor Who Handled The Probate & Will
     Names Of The Witnesses Of The Will
